Choosing an Orthodontist

Orthodontics is a branch of dentistry that specializes in the alignment of teeth, lips, and jaws. To treat these misalignments, also known as malocclusions, orthodontists are specially trained to diagnose and repair any number of dental and facial abnormities.

All orthodontists are dentists though only a small fraction, about six percent, of dentists have narrowed their focus to the intricate field of orthodontics and dento-facial orthopedics. Orthodontists receive an additional two to three years specialized education beyond dental school to learn the proper way to align and straighten teeth. Only those with this education may call themselves "orthodontists", and only orthodontists are eligible for membership in the American Association of Orthodontists.

When searching for the right orthodontist just keep in mind that they should make you feel comfortable and confident in their knowledge and expertise. That said; find out more about Peter D. Russo and his staff
