Wearing braces can often be a challenging experience, especially in the beginning.
Eating with braces requires special consideration. He following special diet suggestions outlined below should be helpful. Remember, some principles of eating with braces are: protein satisfies hunger longer, and food should be prepared in small pieces or in a soft form.

    • Add eggs to milkshakes
    • Add cheese to eggs (cheese soufflé) or soup
    • Fish (tuna)
    • Peanut butter (excellent)
    • Eggs (scrambled, soft cooked, etc.)

    • Cut into small pieces or shred
    • Cook until soft
    • Mashed potatoes (excellent food

This group of foods provides nutrition and variety, while avoiding that hard sticky foods and snacks which cause loose bands and broken appliances. Try to avoid soda and carbonated drinks which can cause white spots (decalcification) on your teeth.
